Gone Home wont ask much of gamers in terms of puzzle solving. Where it excels is in taking the everyday lives of a perfectly ordinary family and building a story whose context grows and grows with each new discover we make. Yes, theres searching and, yes, it will challenge your perceptiveness, but the real work for us here is in assembling the seemingly disparate threads of the family into a cohesive story that leads to an emotional climax as moving as any game this year. Gone Home strikes us as fundamentally true in a way that most games simply arent.
